The 5-Year Survival Rates for ovarian cancer patients drop DRAMATICALLY depending on what stage the cancer was caught in.
When the cancer is caught in stage 1, the 5-year survival rate is about 90%.
When the cancer isn't caught until stage 4, the 5-year survival rate drops to less than 20%.
Approximately 15,500 women die from ovarian cancer every year.
Over 20% of all cases are hereditary. In these cases the patient often has Breast Cancer Gene 1 (BRCA1) or Breast Cancer Gene 2 (BRCA2).
